Purpose Statement
Colossians 1:28-29
The principal purpose of Bridge the Gap Ministries is to mentor young Belizeans of all backgrounds to grow into responsible mature Christians through the use of God’s word (The Bible) and the life of Jesus Christ as the example.
Vision Statement
Isaiah 52:10 & Matthew 28:18-19
Belize is a poor country in Central America whose largest group is young adults. Belizean boys typically drop-out of school by age 14 because of the cost of education or because of the need to work. Belizean girls will usually drop out of school by age 16 unless they have children before, in which case they will leave earlier. There is little work available in Belize and much of the available work is only seasonal. The high unemployment rates undermine families by producing financial strain and forcing them to make a living any way they can.
Our goal is to disciple and train the people of Belize to live their life for Jesus Christ. To show them that their saved time here on earth is to be used living for Him and not just waiting for Glory. Christian evangelism in Belize is being performed mostly through short-term mission trips. Although these trips provide a very necessary way to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, more often than not, the Belizean person that accepts Jesus into his or her life is left with very few Godly mentors.
Bridge the Gap Ministries intends to fill this gap by providing gospel-centered, Christ-focused discipleship and mentoring, helping young adults with their personal and spiritual growth toward Christian maturity. We will do this by disciplining and instructing them in God’s principles from His Holy Word and by using the life of Jesus Christ as the example. We will also mentor them in a life trade and life skills, enabling them to support themselves and their community. Summer camps will be used to teach teamwork and unity among believers with all discipleship focusing on the Word of God.
